CAROLINE FABER
Hello, let me introduce myself, I am Caroline Faber, portrait artist from Hilversum, the Netherlands.
Drawing is in my genes, represents my family, my blood. In my youngest years drawing was my biggest outlet, I can’t remember ever needing anything but pencils and paper (and school desks). I don’t think I left a single school desk in pristine condition.

During high school, I started drawing caricatures of Dutch celebreties and that grew into realistic portrait drawing with graphite pencils.
​
Faces are fascinating to me and I love to watch them. Drawing a portrait means capturing the essence, the energy of a person, the innocence of young children, the fragility, vulnerability of older people, it makes me feel connected to that person.​
​
During the Covid period, I started drawing pets and wildlife in pastels and coloured pencils.
Because of the Lockdown I suddenly had time to study and try out pastel techniques, something I had dreamt of doing for a long time but never got around to. (I just call it the collateral beauty of the lockdown).
​
For me a portrait drawing is all about emotions and love. If I can touch someone’s heart with it, make them smile or revive precious memories, then I am grateful.

I sincerely hope to be able to draw something beautiful for you. My portraits are made with materials of the highest quality, thus, partly due to its great emotional value, your artwork is a gift for life.
